The Snail Trail

Travelling with my home on my back and in no hurry to get anywhere

Back In The Old Days …

I recently visited Boondooma Homestead, in the Burnett region of Queensland, where some fabulous relics from the past were displayed.

I’m sure I learned to type on something like this!

And we definitely had one of these in the backyard when I was a kid - the good old Aussie ‘dunny’ 😬, home to spiders, snakes and blowflies!

This old wagon has seen better days.

Farmyard things …

What a basic existence the boundary rider had!

We are so lucky that dedicated people collect and protect our country’s history for us and future generations.

  1. Aah, the memories. I grew up surrounded by a lot of that from my grandfather’s era and wish more had been kept in the family - not the dunny, of course!

  2. And old phone books! My grandfather used to drill a hole through and hang it up by a piece of twine. A bit softer perhaps but not exactly Sorbent.

  3. Love all your photos and a peak into our heritage and days gone by. That typewriter sure brought back some memories!
